Isabelle looks at the ethical aspects of developing a novel CRISPR-cas9 based gene therapy, for patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. An important aspect is how to recognise and deal with ethical questions and issues that arise during or as a result of the development. Appropriately identifying and acting upon ‘early warning signs’ can help researchers to proactively address potential ethical issues.
